My girlfriend who spent her entire life living in England until a year ago, said that in Europe RV's are always called caravans. Trailer, motorhomes, you name it. They call them caravans.

Potato? Potahtoe?

Moi je dis "po-tay-to", vous dites "po-tah-to". Au fond c'est la même chose.

Merci les forums en Anglais:

Could we PLEEEEESE let this drop, before the tomato-tomahtoe, potato-potahtoe debate kicks in next? Sheesh. Everyone does something that annoys someone
else, and very frequently, you aren't going to get them to do anything about
it

Actually, I think Chris K had the best point (that I missed entirely,
to begin with): snort says 1-2, ACID says 2-1, tomato, tomahtoe,
potato, potahtoe, both are just indicating that both of two flags are
set.

She prayed Mulder was still alive. Scully couldn't explain why, but she
had a feeling that he was. He would call it a hunch, she called it instinct.
Potato, potahtoe. His voice echoed in her head and she found herself
smiling.

hunch=pressentiment
instinct=instinct

woody linux operating system distribution and the potato one are potatoes potahtoes.

As I like history, I will tell you the potato's history.

The potato plant is thought to be native to the Andes and cultivated originally by the Inca and other Pre-Columbian people of the region, spreading over time throughout other Native American groups.

In the 16th century, the Spaniards introduced it to the rest of the world. The name "Potato" came from the Spanish word "patata" (the original quechua word was "papa").

It has long been popularly taught that Sir Walter Raleigh was responsible for bringing the potato to England, but historians now believe that this is a myth, as the first potatoes apparently appeared in North America in the 18th century. Sir Francis Drake is more likely to be responsible. He collected provisions in the Caribbean in 1586, after having battled the Spaniards. potato -potatoe.

Parmentier is said to have popularised it in France in the 18th century, after his captivity in Prussia.

The potato was such an important food to the Irish that it is permanently associated with them today in the popular imagination, due to a single devastating event - the Irish potato famine of 1840.
