Message de here4u posté le 30-03-2021 à 22:27:24 (S | E | F)
Hello, dear Friends,

I) Translate into English:

Of course, THE FORCE will be with You!

(130 words).

It's always hard to make the right decision. I do it or not? what are the good and bad of things.
I think about it days and night , analysing all parameters, comparing the different solutions.Wether I do it or not, What are the good and the bad of things
I calculate the balance between riks and benefits.
Often to help me see clearly,I take a paper and a pen, separate my sheet in 2 colums, I write on the left the positive points and on the right the negative ones.
I also sometimes take advice from my close relatives or fiends and finally I make the decision by feeling and I go for it.(102)

Hello Here4U,
here is my contribution...

1) It's uneasy to give some advices about this topic.
2) He's in the mess since he has been caught red-handed as he was stealing.
3) "I'm not in the mood for playing, Chloé !" "Neither am I, and I see totally clearly in your mind..."
4) It's quite bizarre... each one simply lives his life as usual but at the same time, all is changing. It's really startling when we think about it.
5) "I know all of you have thought much about it but for me, I refuse to stop helping her. Someway if you suggest I already have, you couldn't be more mistaken."
6) Paula thinks she can manipulate all of us, whenever she wants. We won't surrender... She will simply have to live with.
7) "Cmon! We can restart where we stopped!"
8) "Sorry, Joe! I'm going to have to postpone our tonight's dinner because I have to overhaul my tomorrow's exam."

Have a good day!
Maro

mon texte sur la décision

READY TO BE CORRECTED

When I have to make a decision that concerns only myself or others who rely on me, I have no hesitation ,because I rely on my feeling, my desire and my quick decision making. Decision comes to me naturally. This spontaneous, impulsive decision in a serious circumstance based on feelings has engaged my life in a completely different way. It is an impulsive impulse based on the trust of others, and the method of thinking about the pros and cons should be avoided, but it does not correspond to my temperament.
In the case where my decision depends on several people that I don't want to hurt by my clear-cut yes or no, I try to convince, and I submit to the general opinion so as not to do too much trouble

II) OPTIONAL:
(130 words).
It would depends on the situation in being, on the importance of the decision to be made, on the time available etc.
Sometimes it could be easy, thanks to a previous similar problem we successfully sorted out in the past . Anyway it is very important to be attentively able to weigh the pros and cons , trying to exploit the whole time at disposal. If that were not possible, to make a "snap" decision, hoping for the good luck, would be unavoidable.
Anyway, experience taught me that a cautious and honest management of our public, professional and private life, could hardly led to disasters, no matter how "snap" our decision might have been.
Geopolitics, politics and military assumptions are, of course, out of this contest.
Thanking you for the nice exercise, I wish you a pleasant day.
So long.
Joe39

He can't help making bad decisions. It runs in the family!

Sometimes, the choice is not obvious to me. In that case, it all depends on whether the decision has many important implications in the future. If the decision doesn't carry consequences, I don't spend much time hesitating: I opt for simplicity. In contrast, if my future depends on it, I need to weigh up the pros and cons. I take a lot of time thinking about it, write down each benefit and each drawback in the most exhaustive way, weight each criterion and add up to make a decision. Most of the time, the result is what I sensed, but it can also surprise me. I remember the first time I've used that method: I've never regretted the decision that came out of it. (128W)

Hello, Dear Friends! (new workers and "old" workers! )

I) Translate into English:

It’s a tough thing to give advice about.

- Donner des conseils : to advise/ to give advice (ATTENTION ! indénombrable singulier)
- To give advice about an issue : ne pas oublier de rejeter la particule en fin de phrase.

He’s found himself in hot water since he was caught red-handed, stealing.

- être dans le pétrin : be in a fix/ be in a mess/ in a pickle/ in hot water
- prendre la main dans le sac : to catch red-handed/ to catch with his/ her hand in the cookie jar/ to catch in the act/

I’m not in the mood for games, Chloe! Neither am I, and I can see right through you.

- Je ne suis pas d’humeur à faire : I’m not in the mood for/
- voir clair en quelqu’un : to see through someone/ see [sb]'s little game, see right through [sb]

It’s kind of strange… Everyone is just living their lives as usual and at the same time, everything’s changing. It’s pretty amazing when you think about it…

- Etonnant : amazing/ astonishing/ fantastic/ surprising/

I know you have all thought this through, but I, for one, refuse to give up on helping him. If you’re somewhat suggesting I’ve given up on him, you couldn’t be more wrong!

- Beaucoup réfléchir : to think through/ to turn things over in your head (informel)
- Pour ma part : for my part/ personally/ I for one/ as for me/
- Renoncer à : to renounce something/ to give up on sth/
- Tu ne pouvais pas te tromper davantage : you couldn’t be more wrong/

Paula thinks she can pull our strings whenever she wants. She just gonna have to make the best of it.

- manipuler qq’un : manipulate/ contrive/ influence/ pull the strings/ steer/ take advantage of/
- à chaque fois : whenever/
- céder : to give in/ to yield/
- s’accommoder : to put up with/ to make do with/ to make the best of/

7. « Allez ! »
