how are you ?

hello,
I know that there 're many other ways to say "how are you ?" , such as "how's life?" "how is it going?" "how are you doing?" ...even, I think : "how have you been (doing) ? ...so I'm a little bit confused and I'd like to know if some of these sentences are more used in every day life than others...if we use them in different situations ( for example when you haven't seen someone for a long time...)

Your analysis sounds quite good to me.
To a friend you haven't seen for ages you would say :"How have you been doing(for all that time)"?

True, to greet a friend you haven't seen for a while you could say 'how have you been doing?' or 'how have you been?' simply.
'How are you?' is more formal.
And for the others you mentionned, it's just more informal but all the same, now it's up to you to use them in whichever way you want, you can vary and it's pretty much to your taste !
