This pictur was taken by Margaret Bourk white in 1937 at Louiseville , kentuky.Margaret bourk-White was born on 14 june 1904 of jewish father and Irish mother it was a famous photographer who work for LIFE mgazine’s which publied “world’s highest standard of living”.First we can see a long tail of people women , men child… maybe they waited in order to had a food because e they had baskets of food they look like poor contrary to the billboard in the background on which a white family with one boy on girl parents and a dog ; perfect composition ! it was a dream for all people !To put in a nutshell 1937 was a moment of crisis for the USA beautiful year previous were now ended the State did’ nt arrive any more to feed everybody it was " the great depression ".The author wanted to denounced the irony of America’s economics collaps and inform everybody about the devastating of the river Ohio floods of 1937, which cost 400 deaths and approximately a million homeless persons in five States of the winter of this terrible year.
1937 is a years when the labor workers was furious about the exaggerated profits that their factories remitted thanks to their work without increasing their salary the workers rebelled more and more
As the matter of course the title “ world’s highest standard of living “ is ironic because everybody particulary black people did not have un good standard of living .In addition the ironi was amplified by the billboard in the background which promises a beautiful lig for in the first place white people because we can see a white family with white dog inside a magnific car in order to rest the 2 different lifestyle the photographer take light and happy color to the background so as to show the happiness unlike The line of African-Americans has a darker and sadder tone of color. If we cut this photo in to we can observe that the billboard is more larger than the Afro-American line. The breadlines during the Great Depression are some of the most symbolic characteristics of the Great Depression
